TUSCANY MM 2004

Displaying: TUSCANY MM 2004 PONTE 2 DIAVOLO; An almost perfect reflection in the water under the "Ponte della Maddalena" at Borgo a Mozzano. The bridge is also known as the "Ponte del Diavolo" due to a local legend which says that due to the complicated design, the builder, after commencing work, realised he could not finish the bridge on time so he made a pact with the devil to finish the bridge in one night. The only thing the devil wanted in exchange was the first soul that walked across the bridge. The builder, full of remorse for what he had done, consulted a local holy man who suggested that he send a pig across the bridge as soon as it was completed. The devil, seeing he has been outsmarted, apparently disappeared into the waters below never to be seen again.
